I love soup… LOVE it! and the recent cold snap has really flared up my craving. As I type this I am taking my lunch break and eating Italian Wedding Style Soup. My mom’s favorite meal is my Tortilla soup.

So, I am adding a new category and will be spending this winter, or what little bit of cold weather we get here in Houston, trying to find my favorite soup prepared LOCALLY… that means no mass chains. I know, I know – I love the broccoli-cheese soup at Black-Eyed-Pea as much as the next person… but I am rationalizing adding this to my JJ-4-True Light Resources blog as an adventure in supporting local Houston businesses… see it’s business related, yea…

So, at the top of my list – don’t even have to think about it… I LOVE the veggie chili at Cricket’s Creamery & Caffe. And for the purposes of this adventure – chili will count as a soup – its warm, its a meal, and most importantly it comes in a bowl.

Got a Local Fav? Let me know…

Update: Woke up tickled this morning when I realized I am having lunch with The Bloggess at The Black Walnut… laid there in that half asleep place wondering where have heard of that restaurant before… so, its not really cold and I don’t really feel like soup… but I may just have to try the Tomato Basil Soup suggested by Melissa in the comments below.
