A Common Word between Us and You

Wow, wow and wow!!!

Thanx to Ed for posting this on FaceBook… I ran down the rabbit hole this morning and found this site.

Never before have Muslims delivered this kind of definitive consensus statement on Christianity. Rather than engage in polemic, the signatories have adopted the traditional and mainstream Islamic position of respecting the Christian scripture and calling Christians to be more, not less, faithful to it.

It is hoped that this document will provide a common constitution for the many worthy organizations and individuals who are carrying out interfaith dialogue all over the world. Often these groups are unaware of each other, and duplicate each other

I am all about TED and right now cause True Light Resources is doing all the creative for iFEST 2008 – Out Of Africa… I am ALL about Africa.

So, I saw this addition on the TED blog today and thought I would share… pretty cool stuff!

Building an economic market in Ethiopia: Eleni Gabre-Madhin on TED.com

Economist Eleni Gabre-Madhin outlines her ambitious vision to found the first commodities market in Ethiopia. Her plan would create wealth, minimize risk for farmers and turn the world’s largest recipient of food aid into a regional food basket. "There is no place in the world and no time in history that small farmers have had to bear the burden of risk that African farmers bear today," she says. "But I’m not here to lament or wring my hands. I’m here to tell you that change is in the air." (Recorded June 2007 in Arusha, Tanzania. Duration: 20:46.)

Soup I love soup… LOVE it! and the recent cold snap has really flared up my craving. As I type this I am taking my lunch break and eating Italian Wedding Style Soup.  My mom’s favorite meal is my Tortilla soup.

So, I am adding a new category and will be spending this winter, or what little bit of cold weather we get here in Houston, trying to find my favorite soup prepared LOCALLY… that means no mass chains. I know, I know – I love the broccoli-cheese soup at Black-Eyed-Pea as much as the next person… but I am rationalizing adding this to my JJ-4-True Light Resources blog as an adventure in supporting local Houston businesses… see it’s business related, yea…

So, at the top of my list – don’t even have to think about it… I LOVE the veggie chili at Cricket’s Creamery & Caffe. And for the purposes of this adventure – chili will count as a soup – its warm, its a meal, and most importantly it comes in a bowl.

Got a Local Fav? Let me know…

Update: Woke up tickled this morning when I realized I am having lunch with The Bloggess at The Black Walnut… laid there in that half asleep place wondering where have heard of that restaurant before… so, its not really cold and I don’t really feel like soup… but I may just have to try the Tomato Basil Soup suggested by Melissa in the comments below.
